About the Classes

  • A Tailor-Made Experience

Our classes are designed to help you explore the boundless potential of movement within your own body in connection with others and the environment no matter what your experience is. We offer a variety of pass options so that participants can choose their own festival experience.

  • Open Level Classes

Half of the classes are open to participants of all skill levels to enrich the experience and ensure we stay true to the foundational techniques that keep us safe and healthy. Open-level classes make dance accessible, regardless of experience, & emphasise the journey of self-expression & improvement rather than competition. It’s an excellent way to nurture a love for dance and build a diverse community.

  • Advanced Classes

The classes with Alex & Plotino will be more technically demanding and previous experience with some form of movement (contemporary, acrobatics, capoeira etc.) is advised. Through their classes you will get a step further in your spirals, and in your performing & improvisational techniques.

  • Performance Review

At the end of the seminars on Sunday there will be an hour where all participants can participate in a spontaneous improvisational performance for one hour, from 19.15 to 20.15 on Sunday 3/12 and will be curated by the teachers of the festival.

  • Groovin' Pass Project

The joy of dance, music & the magic of festivals should be more accessible. That’s why we are launching Groovin’ Pass Project.

We’re offering a free festival pass to an individual who is passionate about movement & the festival experience but face financial constraints. All you need to do is send us through a short motivation letter (no more than an A4 page). Let us know what attending the festival would mean to you.

Apply by the 18th of November by sending a motivation letter in English or Greek to hello@kunia.gr.

At Movers Circle, we believe in the power of music & dance to unite and uplift. Join us, and let’s make the world a little more harmonious, one festival pass at a time.

The Classes

  • African Percussion Ensemble
    Open Level // Sammy Gian
The rhythmic and coordination movement in response to percussion instruments like drums, hence synchronising their movements with the rhythm of the Percussion creating a dynamic dance.

Participants will work out on their creativity and their awareness about the body and the potential they have to their feet.

The main objectives of this class is:
The polyrhythm, the body percussion and the pantomime through technical strengthening, rhythmical combinations and connection with the music.
  • Acrobatics Foundation
    Open Level // Lucia Lonegro
Through the consolidation of the right bases and techniques and understanding the biomechanics of each body and through the consciousness of it, we will investigate the movement’s potentiality in each one. This will involve the preparation of the whole body and mind.

We will make improvements in the elemental tricks, such as handstand, cartwheel, so you will be able to explore the variations of each trick.

Throughout the process you will gain confidence in controlling your body.
  • Speed the Spiral
    Advanced // Plotinos Eliades
The class treats the body as the perfect instrument, putting it through the process of becoming disciplined and activating the neuromuscular system at its optimum. Through dance combinations with a strong element of flow, the proper maneuvers of the body as well as the continual development of technique are being explored.

The five main pillars we’re working on in this class are: continuous flow, weight shifting, alternations of levels in the space, variations in movement dynamics and, lastly, velocity and precision in execution.

The objective is to instruct the body to respond accurately to highly complex movement. The leading figure is the spiral that ceaselessly flows through the body and its joints so that the energy is transferred in continuous flow from one point of the body to another with minimal effort.
  • Improvisational Tactics
    Advanced // Alexandros El Greco
This workshop begins by delving into dance exercises, which explore various physicalities, qualities of movement, modes of connection and interpretability.

We use different team dynamics to engage in improvisations where space is given to exploration, discovery and play. Strong team bonding is encouraged and special attention is paid to mutual support through observation and encouragement.

Starting from the recognition that each person can have their own unique way and their own contribution to the performance, the act of listening is applied as a valuable tool for finding the possibilities in events that are already taking place, whether they are planned or unexpected, whether it's things we do or things that happen to us.

We set up structures to do little improvisational performances for each other, where we pay attention not only to what we do, but also to why we do it.
  • Fascia Dance & Movement
    Open Level // Rodoula Gkouliampere
It is an approach to modern dance that focuses on the development of motor intelligence by researching mainly the connective tissue (fascia). It emerged through the many years of research of the Danis Bois method in contemporary dance.

On the occasion of dance, we create a communication link, restoring it to its primary position and quality: dance as a means of communication and connection. Dance as a connecting link that unites our soul, that unites and conveys what words cannot convey. We dance to express our hidden emotions and to feel that our body becomes more expressive.

The aim of the class is to move from absolute slowness to the maximum speed while maintaining our sensitivity and connection with movement in the present.
  • Evolutionary Movement
    Open Level // Milán Herencsár
An open-level workshop that offers a variety of exciting approaches to movement for everybody who is interested in the combination of evolutionary biology and holistic movement.

The structure of the workshop aims to emphasize the concept of being a "mover" as opposed to being an "athlete". The class contains elements from animal locomotion, contemporary dance, capoeira, playfight, and floor acrobatics.

By walking through different evolutionary stages of becoming a human being symbolized by movement patterns and partner exercises we take into account and deal with many important aspects of modern life. The main keywords are adaptation, natural selection, limited resources, and diversity.

During the workshop, we get to know interesting details about evolution while training. It is literally a “learning by doing it” method as we do physical exercise and at the same time, we deepen our theoretical knowledge of our biology.
  • Acro Partnering
Open Level // Rodoula Gkouliampere & Alexander el Greco
With the mixture of basic knowledge in contemporary dance and floor acrobatics we will get a good base for achieving different partnering tricks.

By adding flow to the movements learned during the seminar (or from your previous experience) we will take partnering possibilities to the next level. The main purpose is to get to do things you didn’t imagine by learning basic techniques in partnering and understanding how to build trust both within you as with others.

Through all the process you will be helped to gain confidence in your body control by understanding how to use your center and weight in relation with others.
