Theme Classes
These sessions invite movers & dancers of all backgrounds to grow & explore new ways of moving.
All theme classes are open level & available to both tracks. Theme classes will be available on a first come, first served basis, and some might be sold-out earlier than others. Please note that the duration of each theme class varies and some theme classes overlap. You can find the festival schedule here.

Partnering Tools1,5h with AlexandrosExplore tools that can be applied to partner dancing, such as the relationship between the two bodies in space, distance and proximity, rhythm and coordination, the use of weight, and the use of momentum. Practice through both pre-planned movements and improvisational exercises.

Movement is Medicine1h with AngelaDiscover how movement help us access our humanselves, as an individual, with an other, in groups. Lindy Hop is a social dance. It is a Jazz dance borne during times of great social movement, yet often overlooked due to its contemporary presentation as a fun dance. Via the language of Jazz we will explore ways how movement can be medicinal.

In this class you will first, acknowledge your body by focusing on body isolations, waves, & understanding its capabilities. Then feed your body by learning vocabulary & groove, while building connections with others. Finally, celebrate your body by experimenting with musicality & improvisations.

Fascia Dance Movement2h with RodulaExplore contemporary dance & kinetic intelligence through fascia study, based on the Danis Bois method. Using slowness, closed eyes, and fascia awareness, it connects body and mind. Participants progress from slow to fast movements while maintaining sensitivity. Fascia, the connective tissue around organs and muscles, provides crucial sensory information to the brain.

Hip Hop1h with JoYsSBefore the dance, there is a spirit, and Hip Hop is a wonderful example of breathing through the beat then moving to the groove. You will explore dance variations & connections with the music. At the end of the class you will be able to move & groove in peace while having fun!

Regenerative Practices1,5h with MadaMovement practice enriches our lives, but it also causes a big stress load on the body. Learning how to compensate for that impact through specific breath work and movement tools is key for our well-being as much as it is for the development of a less violent and more gentile world.
